MIX. CREATE TOGETHER.

The English inventor Sir Isaac Newton famously said, “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.*” This notion, that collaboration is the heart that drives creative thinking is what inspired us to create Mix, an open platform for creativity, built right into Paper.

Get inspiredGetting started is often the hardest part of doing anything creative. With Mix, you’ll find a well of inspiration from creators around the world, both in Paper and on mix.fiftythree.com. Whether you’re skilled at drawing, or just comfortable coloring and doodling, you’ll be inspired to create and learn on Mix.

No more blank pagesProfessionals don’t start from scratch, and neither should you. On Mix you’ll find templates, outlines, and ideas ready to be remixed and transformed into something new. Say goodbye to the blank page.

Get and share feedbackMix is a big, visual conversation, and some of the best conversations happen when people are invited to tell their own stories. Mix is about leaving open spaces for people to fill in, and letting ideas evolve in unexpected ways.

We could not be more excited to welcome you to a whole new world of creative possibility.

Join the Mix.

*Newton’s famous quote was itself a remix of an idea attributed to Bernard of Chartres in the 12th c.

Maybe it’s time I get a new stylus and have the screen protector of my iPad fixed. Looks exciting! :D

FOREVER FAVORITES - YouTube

I created this YouTube playlist to save my friends the trouble of finding each video I’ve listed for a Facebook meme. This is really just a top-of-the-mind list because I love A LOT of music videos.

Here we go:

Justice - D.A.N.C.E.

Kanye West - Good Life ft. T-Pain

Is Tropical - The Greeks

Breakbot - Baby I’m Yours feat. Irfane

Daft Punk - Around the World

Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be

The XX - Islands

Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma

Wild Nothing - Only Heather

Spice Girls - Wannabe

Bjork - It’s Oh So Quiet

The Strokes - Reptilia

Phoenix - Chloroform

Washed Out - Don’t Give Up

Metronomy - The Bay

Lighting Seeds - You Showed Me

Death Cab for Cutie - Title and Registration

This isn’t my usual artwork post, but I realized that these music videos influenced (or continues to influence) my work. After all, these videos made an impact because of the visuals.

I’ve also noticed recurring themes: a) colorful, hand-drawn animation (graphics and type) b) single takes c) close-ups and close-ups juxtaposed with wide shots, and d) hearts being ripped off.

So anyway, take a look, and do share your favorites, too! :D
